M8 Shuts Down Automatically At 30% Battery Level
ProblemI had problem with my HTC one m8, it will auto shutdown when it still remain 30-40% battery, wish you can help me solve this problem.
Solution: This seems to be an issue with the battery already. However, before ruling this as a battery related issue you should first check if the phone software is causing this problem. To do this you should do a master reset. Make sure to backup your phone data first before proceeding.
  • Press and hold the Power button
  • Tap Power off.
  • Press and hold the Volume Down key.
  • Press and release the Power key to turn the phone on.
  • Continue holding the Volume Down key.
  • Release the Volume Down key when the three Android images appear on the bottom of the screen.
  • Press the Volume Down key twice to move the cursor from FASTBOOT to FACTORY RESET.
  • Press the Power key to perform the master reset.
If your phone is still exhibiting the same issue then bring it to an authorized service center and have the battery checked.
M8 Snapchat Automatically Zooms In
ProblemHello, I have had a new HTC One M8 for a little bit over a month now. Brand new phone from HTC. I recently had the first HTC One before I got the M8, I had to get a new phone because after I did one of the “system updates” on my old HTC One, the phone crashed on me. I was happy with HTC so I got the M8. I am having some problems with my apps freezing every now and then and it keeps telling me I need to do another one of their “system updates.” Obviously I am hesitant to do so, I am waiting until I am comfortable with doing it. Do you believe that this system update would help my apps stop freezing? That is question 1, my minor question. My big question here that no one can seem to answer is Snapchat! I have used Snapchat on my old HTC for at least 2 years and everything was fine. Now, on the M8, every time I take a video, it automatically zooms way in. There is no way to zoom out. I have tried contacting numerous people about this problem yet no one can seem to help me. Please help me figure out why the Snapchat video zooms in only on my phone. Every other droid or iPhone I’ve seen has been fine. It is simply the M8 that has issues with it. I do not want to go back to factory settings because I believe that will not fix the problem considering I received the phone brand new and as I was activating it, we had to go back to factory settings before. If you can help me or give me some advice that would be great.
Solution: A system update generally contains several improvements and bug fixes that creates the best possible user experience. I’d definitely recommend getting the update.
This issue with Snapchat appears to be common among other M8 users. Have you tried uninstalling the app then reinstalling it from the Google Play Store?
If the issue still persists then try to get the latest software update on your phone. Several users who are having the same issue say that the latest phone update resolves this issue.
M8 Not Recognized By HTC Sync Manager After Lollipop Update
Problem: “After a recent HTC M8 update by AT&T I can no longer manually sync my phone with Microsoft Outlook using the USB. My computer recognizes the phone when attached via the USB but The Sync Software initially recognizes the phone and then displays an error message “Device unavailable please reconnect (4)”
  • HTC Sync Software installed is 3.1.44.5
  • Android version software 5.0.2
  • HTC Sense Version 6.0
Sync had been working fine until a recent Phone update here recently in April. I have a trouble ticket in with HTC that has moved through the escalator division but with no results.  Last thing they tried was CC Cleaner for my computer and clear cache on my phone.  Computer recognizes phone buy Sync software does not (initially it does for a couple seconds). Frustrating trying to get answers out of HTC.  Been calling for almost a week. Thanks.”
“Prior to updating to Lollipop backed up my data using HTC sync manager, I updated manually since my M8 is an AT&T unlocked and no longer with this provider, anyhow, once the update went as smooth as I would have ever dream, proceeded to restore from the aforementioned app, to no avail, HTC sync manager doesn’t recognize my phone, well, it does at first, although, when it tries to retrieve data from the phone, the communication breaks down, and then it shows a banner, that indicates that the phone is not connected, error 4, any possible solution? Thank you in advance.”
Solution: This appears to be a common issue among those who have updated their phones to Lollipop. You should first try to uninstall the HTC Sync Manager from the computer and install a new one from the HTC website.
If the problem still persists then install the AndroidHtcSync2.apk file which is present in the internal storage of your phone.
  • First go to Start menu > Settings > Security > Check Unknown Sources.
  • Next go to Start menu > File Manager > AndroidHtcSync2.apk > install.
  • Connect your phone to HTC Sync Manager, it should be detected by now.
M8 GPS Randomly Starting
Problem: I just read your article but did not find the issue i’m encountering since my update was done. My GPS keeps randomly starting up … sometimes it stays on and other times it goes off after a couple minutes. It’s really taking a toll on my battery life giving my only about a third of normal longevity. Thanks
Solution: There’s a possibility that this issue may be caused by a third party app installed in your phone. To verify if this is the case you should start your phone in Safe Mode. In this mode, only the default apps are loaded making it easy to troubleshoot the issue.
  • Press and hold the Power key.
  • On the screen, touch and hold Power off under Phone Options.
  • When the ‘Reboot to safe mode’ message appears, tap RESTART.
  • When the phone restarts it will be in safe mode.
Observe if the issue still occurs. If it doesn’t then you should start checking what app is causing this and then uninstall it.
If the problem still occurs even in Safe Mode then I suggest doing a factory reset. Make sure to back up your phone data before proceeding.
M8 Call Can’t Be Heard
ProblemHello I was wondering if my phone is something I can fix myself. I have had it about a month. Whenever I call someone they can’t hear me talking but I can hear them fine.. do I do anything or do I have to return it to have it fixed?
Solution: Is your phone software updated? If not then try to update it first. Once your phone is running on the latest software and the issue still persists it’s time to check if this is a software related problem. You have to back up your phone data then do a factory reset.
If the problem still occurs after the factory reset then this may already be a hardware related problem. The microphone of the phone may be faulty or there may be some other factor causing this. Bring your phone to an authorized service center and have it checked.
M8 Battery Drain / Heating Issue After Lollipop Update
ProblemI am the former proud owner of the HTC Incredible. I loved that phone. It stood by me for 6 years, until apps just would not run anymore on the old o.s. and it finally died. I have a grandfathered Verizon unlimited data plan, so I bought my HTC One M8 outright to keep my plan – cha ching.
Let me tell you, I was so impressed with this One M8 out of the box. Great form factor, great features, and the best of all was my battery life was huge! I use it all day as my primary phone for work and it was lasting through the day and night on a single battery charge. it was truly amazing and impressive.
Then a horrible horrible thing happened. Verizon forced me to upgrade to lollipop even though I did not want to. They splashed my screen with the update and grayed out the ‘no thank you’ option.
Let me tell you, ever since my battery has been dying within two hours of normal use. There are other bad anomalies as well. It is so frustrating because they ruined a perfectly good phone. Come on Google, you pay your people very well can’t you put out a product that actually works without bugs. I also noticed how incredibly hot my phone gets all the time now. Funny part is the operating system used to tell me when it was hot and it did not feel hot. Now it’s very hot and it does not tell me it is hot. Ironic.
Please someone come up with a fix for this mess. I really hate the thought of considering an iPhone, but Google has rendered my $650 phone useless. How about some money back Google?
Solution: A lot of phone owners have reported that the battery life of their phone decreased ever since they updated the software to Lollipop.
The most common cause behind this is that certain apps seem to use more battery life after the update.
You should first check what apps are using the most battery life by going to Settings then Battery Usage. If you see an app that is on top of the list then try to uninstall it then install a fresh version from the Google play Store.
You should also check if certain services that you don’t use are switched on. This includes Bluetooth, GPS, Wi-Fi, mobile data, etc. Switch off the services you are not using as this consumes battery life as well.
Finally, since this issue occurred after a major software update a factory reset is highly recommended. Make sure to back up your phone data before proceeding.
M8 Slow In Sending Messages
ProblemHi, My HTC one m8 messaging is not working properly. It is taking a very long time to send messages, the keyboard is really delayed when I first open it, and I get this pop up when I’m in the middle of messaging saying something like “messages not working.” (Can’t remember exactly what it says) then exits messaging and goes to my home screen.
Solution: Clearing the cache and data of your messaging app usually works in this case.
  • From any Home screen, tap Apps.
  • Tap Settings.
  • Scroll to ‘PHONE,’ then tap Apps.
  • Scroll left to the ALL tab.
  • Tap the Messaging application.
  • Tap Clear Cache.
  • Tap OK.
  • Tap Clear Data.
If the problem persists then wipe the cache partition of your phone.
  • Press and hold the Volume Down key.
  • Press and release the Power key to turn the phone on.
  • Continue holding the Volume Down.
  • Release the Volume Down key when the three Android images appear on the bottom of the screen.
  • Press the Volume Down key once to move the cursor from FASTBOOT to RECOVERY.
  • Press the Power key to begin the wipe.
  • The device displays the bootup screen followed by a phone with a red triangle.
  • Press the Up Volume key and Power key at the same time.
  • Press the Down Volume key three times to select Wipe cache partition.
  • Press the Power key to initiate the wipe.
  • Wait until the phone displays Cache wipe complete.
  • Press the Power key to select Reboot system now.
