M8 Does Not Turn On
ProblemHello, thanks for your solutions you provide, i have had a nasty experience whereby my phone went off and has never powered on again, this happened over a week ago and up to now the phone has failed to power on. Note that when it powered itself off, the battery was full. I have tried to use the solution you provided of holding the power on button together with the volume keys while on charge but this has not been successful. only the LED red light comes on but it has failed to power on.  What could be the problem? Please note that  i have tried to take it to the phone repairs but have failed to know what the problem is. could this be a factory error? also note that i have only held this for for slightly over a month. Kind regards.
Solution: If performing a factory reset fails to solve the problem then this may already be hardware related. Sometimes a sudden surge of electricity coming from the wall outlet may damage your phone. Bring your phone back to an authorized service center and have it properly checked.
M8 Takes Longer to Charge After Android Lollipop Update
ProblemI have the HTC one m8 from Sprint and just updated to lollipop yesterday. Now my phone doesn’t charge like it used to. It took 2-3 hours to fully charge before and I had it charging most of the night last night and it is only at 80% and was at about 30-40% when I started. Any ideas on what could be causing this?
Solution: Are you charging the phone using a wall charger or by connecting it to the USB port of your computer? If through the computer then try using the wall charger. A wall charger has a higher current rating thus can charge your phone much quicker.
If you are already using the wall charger but still your phone charges slowly then this may be because of the Lollipop update. Several Android phone owners have experienced this slow charging issue after they updated their phones. One effective solution to this is to do a factory reset. Just make sure to back up your data before proceeding.
  • Turn off phone
  • Press and hold the VOLUME DOWN button, and then press and hold the POWER button.
  • Wait for the screen with the three Android images to appear, and then release the POWER and VOLUME DOWN buttons.
  • Press VOLUME DOWN to select FACTORY RESET, and then press the POWER button.
M8 Can’t Change Background
ProblemHello Droid guy, I’m having trouble changing my background for my htc one m8 phone. The photos and even the factory background photos won’t show up all it ever shows is black or white. Even the lock screen won’t change. Please help?
Solution: This may just be a glitch in the software. Turn off your phone then turn it back on after a few seconds. If the issue persists then wipe the cache partition of your phone.
  • Turn off the device.
  • Press and hold the Volume Down key.
  • Press and release the Power key to turn the phone on.
  • Continue holding the Volume Down.
  • Release the Volume Down key when the three Android images appear on the bottom of the screen.
  • Press the Volume Down key once to move the cursor from FASTBOOT to RECOVERY.
  • Press the Power key to begin the wipe.
  • The device displays the bootup screen followed by a phone with a red triangle.
  • Press the Up Volume key and Power key at the same time.
  • Press the Down Volume key three times to select Wipe cache partition.
  • Press the Power key to initiate the wipe.
  • Wait until the phone displays Cache wipe complete.
  • Press the Power key to select Reboot system now.
  • If this does not resolve your issue, the next step a master reset.
M8 Charges Slowly
ProblemI currently own the HtC M8. I’ve had it a little over a year already. The phone hasnt gave me any problems till recently. I had connected my phone to charge for the night. THe next day the phone only had 3% battery. EVen tho it was connected all night. So my phone basically stayed connected. Sometimes i had no other deceison but to take it with me. i also have a car charge which got it to charge more. BUt wouldnt pass 30% of battery. till eventually the orange light started blinking while charging and didnt charge fast or even if i leave it on there for hours. it will still be at 0% or 3%. Now it doesnt even fully charge. The phone is always off. but it still wont charge. i have tired different chargers. but it will just stay blinking. Until i tired to just make sure the charger is really in the phone in order for it to charge someting. THis is day two of the phone being hooked on and off completetly. And its still at 12%. PLease help
Solution: Try checking the charging port of your phone and that of the wall charger if there are any dirt or debris present. If you spot any then clean it using a toothpick or toothbrush.
You should also try using another wall charger with a different USB cable (preferably an HTC charger).
If the issue persists then you will have to perform a factory reset. Make sure to back up your phone data before proceeding.
Try charging your phone and see if it charger normally. If it still charges slowly then the battery of your phone may be faulty. Bring your phone to an authorized service center for checking.
M8 Messaging App Lags After Android Lollipop Update
ProblemHi, I recently upgraded my htc One m8 to lollipop. Now, in the few contacts that I message heavily, the device appears to lag as it populates the screen. There is a noticeable delay when I press a key for the letter to appear. This does not happen with contacts that I have only texted a few times. However, I like having all of the texts from a particular contact, and do not want to delete those simply to make the device run more quickly. I know there is third party software that allows you to upload messages off your device for storage, but again, this is an inelegant solution to a problem that did not exist before the lollipop upgrade. Any help you can give is appreciated.
Solution: The lag may be due to the cached data that the messaging app is storing. Try clearing the cache of your messaging app. This will not delete your text messages.
  • Go back to the Home screen.
  • Tap on Settings.
  • Tap on App manager from Device section.
  • Go to All tab and tap on the Messages app that you wish to clear the cache
  • Tap on Clear cache from the Cache section.
M8 Issues After Android Lollipop Update
ProblemHello! Since installing the lollipop update, my phone is behaving strangely. There are two main problems. The first is I’m not getting Gmail notifications from 3 of my 4 accounts. I’ve checked all the settings for notifications and they are all set up to send them. The second is battery related. The battery life has decreased dramatically. It used to last pretty much all day and now it can drain in a matter of hours. It also charges very slowly. Before the update it would charge completely in a couple of hours. Now it can take more than 8 hours to charge completely. Before I go to sleep I shut down all my tabs and use advanced task killer, then turn the screen off. Often, when I wake up, the screen is back on and it has hardly charged. Lookout hasn’t detected any spyware. I’ve tried several different chargers/outlets and had the same problem. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Solution: For the first issue you should try to recreate the Gmail accounts affected by removing them then adding them back. Make sure to have a backup of all your important messages. Before you do this though, we should first consider your second issue which is the battery drain and charging issue. In most cases this can be resolved by performing a factory reset. Make sure to back up your data before proceeding.
After the factory reset you can then recreate your email accounts.
M8 Duo Camera Blocked Error
ProblemEvery time I try to take a picture with my phone has a message that appears that says “duo camera blocked” but there is nothing blocking any of the lenses. Help? Thank you for your time.
Solution: Make sure that nothing is blocking the secondary camera which is located at the edge of the phone. If you have a phone case then try removing this as this sometimes gets in the way. If there are any dust or fingerprints present on the lens then wipe it with a micro fiber cloth.
There are also cases where an app may be interfering with the duo camera functionality. To check if this is what’s happening in this scenario you have to boot your phone in Safe Mode.
  • Press and hold the Power key.
  • On the screen, touch and hold Power off under Phone Options.
  • When the ‘Reboot to safe mode’ message appears, tap RESTART.
  • When the phone restarts it will be in safe mode.
If the issue does not occur in this mode then you will have to find out what app is causing this and uninstall it.
M8 Low Battery Life
ProblemJust ran into a problem with my HTC M8 ONE.  For the last few days my battery has been dropping like a rock! Normally I could use it all day and late into the night without charging.  I would still have 25-35% of my battery left and that’s with a lot of usage.  Now I’m down to that point by lunch.  If I don’t get a quick charge at lunch, I’m down to nothing by 4 or 5 o’clock.  If I check to see what is using all the power, it says the android system is at 42%.  It’s always been screen or Facebook at around 15%.  There is also another android system way down the list at less than 1%.  Most of my time is used on the work WiFi or my home WiFi and I haven’t installed anything new in the last 3-4 weeks.  Any ideas?  The battery life is the main reason I got this phone and have been really pleased with it since I got it 8 months ago.  I’ve heard about this issue with the new lollipop but my phone hasn’t updated to it yet, at least I don’t think so.  Any help would be appreciated.
Solution: Whether your phone is running on Android Lollipop or not you should consider doing a factory reset. Make sure to back up your phone data before proceeding.
If the issue persists then your phone may have a faulty battery. If this is the case then you will have to bring your phone to an authorized service center
